As kids, most of us had the same dream. A real jersey. A crowd on the sideline. A final.
Then life happened. College, work, family. Fútbol turned into a pickup game when the calendar allowed it, or a match on TV.
Two weeks ago, a group of finance professionals in Miami lived that dream. Morgan Stanley and Reinsurance United played the first CFL Finance final, a tournament built for a single industry and the first of its kind for us.
Watching new teams experience our concept took me back two years. Seeing their awe of actually being there, like true Stars. And this is the purpose of it all. It’s about living the Dream.
THIS SATURDAY, YOU PLAY IT
On November 7, the Super Season starts. Two divisions, eight teams in each.
Every match has referees, a table, stats and a sideline full of coworkers. More than 200 executives are on site every matchday. Your goals go into the League Manager. Your name goes into the recap.
That’s what we mean by star players. In the CFL, you get treated like the player you dreamed of being.
The matchday keeps going after the whistle. You meet the captain from the other company. You talk with people you would never cross paths with in your industry. These conversations still matter on Monday.
Compete hard on Saturday. Then stay a little longer.
THE TAKEAWAY
Back in the day, I dreamed of how it would be to be down there on the pitch, being seen through our fútbol, through our game, and belonging to something bigger than ourselves. Del Piero? Zidane? Dinho? Who did you want to be?
