We all want to talk about solutions. Few of us stay with the problem long enough to understand it. It happens when we lose a match, and it happens in our day-to-day at work.
I set out to build the best tournament in Miami. I was full of ideas to improve the product, but I wasn’t aware of the real problem. The market I was addressing wasn’t interested in it. They just wanted the prize money.
The problem was I was addressing the wrong market.
After almost a year of iteration, we landed on the Corporate Fútbol League, and this changed everything.
Companies are full of people who work side by side and mostly never truly connect.
Offsites, workshops and happy hours all help. Each one opens a different door, but fútbol opens one the others can’t reach.
EMBRACE LIFE THROUGH FÚTBOL
Fútbol doesn’t pull you away from corporate life. It prepares you for it.
On the pitch, the captain leads without a title and every play is a decision made in half a second. Teams that learn to trust each other there bring that trust back to the office. And a handshake after the match can open the same doors as a meeting.
You can choose to just wake up and go kick a ball. Or you can choose to lead. Or perhaps to be the leader’s supporter, or the one that encourages others to bring more into it, or the one who inspires everyone to give it all on the field.
Fútbol is a representation of life. If you intentionally lean into it, it will change not only the way you experience every Saturday, but how you take this to your day-to-day life.
UBS, EFG, Santander, JP Morgan and FIFA have all played in the CFL.
The people at FIFA Americas didn’t know the people at FIFA World Cup. After a year and a half of playing, they became a family. How much of this is needed when executing the largest sports event in history?
On Saturday at 8 AM, titles stay home. Everyone wears a jersey.
Even coworkers who have never kicked a ball show up to cheer, celebrating every goal like a final. They’re part of the team too.
THE TAKEAWAY
In fútbol and in life, you decide who you get to be.
